Brad Guigar, of Evil Inc. and Webcomics.com fame wrote a nice article on webcomics.com and he adds: ” It’s an incredibly well-drawn, well-written comic, and it supports what seems to be a genuine, sincere charity. And the idea of doing a webcomic to support a charity is one worth discussing here. We’ve certainly had projects that have supported charities from time to time, but an entire webcomic dedicated to a charity is new to me.”
And Gary Tyrrell from FLENN,(a webcomic blog about webcomics), writes: “…there’s something that you really need to see: Starthrower in Haiti is a new, twice-a-week webcomic that exists solely to raise money for the Starthrower Foundation, which sponsors young Haitian adults who wish to complete their education and/or apprenticeship.
It’s created by Daniel Lafrance, a Canadian storyboard artist, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. There’s a soft, pencil-ish quality to the colors, mixed in with a masterful sense of character design that’s neither too fussy nor too simple; think Herge’s ligne claire¹ and you’ve got a pretty good idea what it looks like. Check out what’s likely the only charity-dedicated webcomic since the now-folded Guest Strip Project.”
getting old sucks…

Samples
There is an open submission going on right now to illustrate Emmanuel Jal’s CD and book called WAR CHILD in ‘cartoon form’ for children. They don’t specify an age group so I’m doing two submissions, one in children’s book style, and one in graphic novel style. They are asking for 5 pages samples, so I’ve done 5 pages of the children’s book version because it was fast and easy, but I’m only sending one page sample in graphic novel style because I really don’t have the time to do more…leaving for family vacation on two weeks and I need to finish a few things…

The Star Thrower
I am a supporter of a little fundation in Haiti called Starthrower Foundation, that helps the kids and youths go to school, not to mention food and other medical needs they have. The name of the fundation is inspired from this story that I took off their website. Please check them out and support as much as you can, your contribution, little as it may be, DOES make a difference. Here’s the official website, and here’s their Blog.
