Two great reviews for my Webcomic

Brad Guigar, of Evil Inc. and Webcomics.com fame wrote a nice article on webcomics.com and he adds: ” It’s an incredibly well-drawn, well-written comic, and it supports what seems to be a genuine, sincere charity. And the idea of doing a webcomic to support a charity is one worth discussing here. We’ve certainly had projects that have supported charities from time to time, but an entire webcomic dedicated to a charity is new to me.”

And Gary Tyrrell from FLENN,(a webcomic blog about webcomics), writes: “…there’s something that you really need to see: Starthrower in Haiti is a new, twice-a-week webcomic that exists solely to raise money for the Starthrower Foundation, which sponsors young Haitian adults who wish to complete their education and/or apprenticeship.
It’s created by Daniel Lafrance, a Canadian storyboard artist, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. There’s a soft, pencil-ish quality to the colors, mixed in with a masterful sense of character design that’s neither too fussy nor too simple; think Herge’s ligne claire¹ and you’ve got a pretty good idea what it looks like. Check out what’s likely the only charity-dedicated webcomic since the now-folded Guest Strip Project.”

color panel

Okay no more showing full pages. Here’s a panel from page 6. I was planning to launch the webcomic this week, and posting one page weekly, but I’ve changed my mind. I don’t think one page per week is enough to maintain momentum, so I’ve decide to post two pages per week, but to do so, I have to finish enough pages in advance to make sure I don’t run out of pages faster than I can make new ones…So I will launch the webcomic in about 2-3 weeks with 7 full pages on the first day, than 2 pages weekly afterwards.

Webcomic news (updated)

Okay, I’ll let the cat out of the bag… I’m developping two webcomics, but with a little twist that I’ll talk about a bit later.
I cannot say yet what they’re about, so I’ll just say one takes place in Haiti and the other in Sudan.

Cassie Fuertez, the colorist who did such an amazing job on my story ‘Walking with my Son’ (look up at the banner)has agreed to be the colorist on the one taking place in Haiti, thanks again Cassie! I’ll be coloring the one taking place in Sudan.

I still don’t have the go ahead regarding the one about Sudan, but I’m hoping to get the good news soon…
Stay tuned…
