Rome and a beach

Well these are the only skechtbook drawings I made in 2005, I know, I know…So my Italian wife and I went to Italy for two weeks, where we when to Rome, Amalfie, Venice and visited her Dad’s family somewhere north of Venice.

Like I said before, I don’t really draw in skechtbooks, but I tried on this trip, for like, two days, and then gave up.

So here they are…

This last one is totally weird! We when to this church who had 6 crypts in the basement decorated with the bones of 4,000 Capuchin Priest!!!!!  Hey, one of them in the 18 century saw himself as an artist and wanted to create these rooms…the church said okay and, well, the result is totally gruesome.  There was even the sceletons on two kids in there!  Hummm, a bit young to be priests we thought.  Anyway, we felt sick to our stomach afterwards.  My sketch is from memory, and as you can see, I didn’t finish it.  Just picture more bones on the ceiling arranged in an ‘artistic’ way and you get the idea…

Max on the dock

I have to say that I’m not one of these artists who fill sketchbooks after sketcbooks of beautiful drawings…I draw on average 2 drawings a YEAR in a sketchbook.  All this to say that I don’t have a lot of drawings to choose from.  This one was done in the summer of 2006 at a cottage we rented. My son Max was painting with watercolors on the dock.  Drawn directly with a brush pen…

Two kids moving around…

This is a sketch I did in 2000…Even though it looks like there’s a lot of kids here, in fact, it’s only my son Max and his friend, moving around all the time. I would barely have time to sketch them and they would move to another spot, lost in their game.   I think the result is kinda cool… This was sketched directly with a Micron pen…
